Beauty -

I am physically very tired from work, but I crave for knowledge (which is good since it aids my learning and adds to my knowledge). :)

God is good. I'm not getting much palpitations nowadays as a result of freaking out about how little medicine I know. It's speed learning, or how I'd like to say exponential learning curve the past couple of weeks and it will continue on (if I don't get too slack) for the next 4 weeks. Can't believe that in 4.5 weeks, it will all be over! I will have transitioned over to the working world! Such a bizzare feeling! :) A great feeling - but I will have to wait til the 20th Nov. Exactly a month to go!

I give all honour, praise and thanks to God for bringing me to where I am right now. Without Him, I will not be at this place right now. I prolly would have quit medicine and moved on to something else years ago!

My next post will prolly be when I have done my long case exam and passed :) That will be the day when I will rejoice and say, I have done it. It's interesting how this long case is actually stressing me out quite a bit. It will definitely be a relief when it's all done! Not too long to go now. Wow!

By the way, if you're in NZ or Australia and are reading this, check out the iHeart film by Hillsong United which is airing in cinemas near you on Nov 18! :) I've already got my tickets :D

Today -

After work today, I was left with a somewhat anxious feeling. I was shaken. A wake up call. I realised how much I am not very good at internal medicine. Really. Brings back memories (not very nice ones) of me as a fourth year student. I pretty much have 4 weeks to suss myself out and make sure I study really really hard. What's not nice as well, is that I don't really know my patients that well. And we only have 8 on the team. :S I'll make it a point to know them by tomorrow. Early morning start it will be!

I have an exam in the next 4 or 5 weeks. I pray for wisdom that I will be able to shake away all nervousness and not let it get a hold on me. I believe that I can do it (and no, I'm not saying this in a prideful way) - it's just that lil' fear that catches me and makes me think that I'm incompetent. Incompetent feeling, go away!

Tomorrow will be a new day. A great new day, because God is in it!

Only 5 and a half more weeks now!

Hallo October! -

7 weeks til I am done with my TI year.
6 weeks til Sarah comes! :D

Spring is here! But when I was walking to church this morning, there was snow on the hills. Hmm.

Today a couple of people shared in church about the disasters in Philippines, Samoa and Indonesia. It hit home for me, and honestly I am still shaken. I can't quite explain the feeling. Ok. Maybe part of how I'm feeling now is due to the fact that I didn't think I did my best today in playing the keys - it was a struggle (despite having a friend tell me later after the service that she liked what I was doing with the keyboard! Go figure. I think I critique myself a bit too harsh sometimes!). But I did struggle, and didn't like the feeling. :( Well, back to the natural disasters that seemed to have happen one after the other. They showed us this dvd clip on the flooding in the Philippines, and I can't help but think back to the start of this year, when I was in Brunei and how it was flooding in Brunei! It didn't so much affect where I lived, but for some, it wasn't a pleasant experience. People fell sick. Lost stuffs. Houses had to be cleaned. Things restarted. Lives lost. And now I see this happening in these countries. And it's like on a bigger scale. My heart goes out for them. If I could, I would jump on the next plane out to assist in whatever medical treatment available and help where I can. But it's not the time yet for me to step out.

I take comfort in knowing that despite all the hardship, God is there. He was there when the tsunami hit various villages in Samoa; He was there when buildings crashed to the ground in Indonesia, taking the lives of many loved ones; He was there when a daughter got taken away by the waves from her mother and they never saw each other again; He was there when the people in the Philippines struggled to get to higher ground to save themselves from the 6ft high flood. And He is still there with them, comforting them as they mourn the loss of their loved ones, their homes. I guess I will never be able to comprehend the extend of the disaster but I can empathize with them. It's not easy and I do not wish for myself to read the news and then flick on to the next news and get on with life as if it never happened.

Maybe this niggling feeling is there to remind me of the many out there who needs our prayers and support. Although I kinda wished it wasn't too annoying to the point that I'm not really concentrating on a 3000 word essay that I need to complete as soon as possible!
